01 About us
Project Concern Zambia (PCZ) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization registered as a local Zambian NGO in 2019.

Project Concern Zambia (PCZ) was registered in 2019 as a local Zambian independent
organization. The formation of PCZ was a culmination of an intentional process by
Project Concern International (PCI) — an American International NGO that operated in Zambia for over 20 years between 1996 and 2020— to transition the management of its HIV/AIDS and related health programs in Zambia, once mature, to an independent locally registered entity that is governed and managed by Zambians.

For over five years now, PCZ work has focused on strengthening community public health and social protection systems to sustainably support development, HIV epidemic control, increase access to quality health care and social protection among vulnerable communities and populations. In Primary Health Care (PHC) settings, PCZ, through a systems network and capacity strengthening approach integrated with automated data systems galvanizes the entire PHC workforce across community, civil society, and Government levels to ensure a holistic Community-led and integrated response. PCZ has automated all its data collection, analysis and reporting system through a software solution, the electronic Case Management System (eCMS). The eCMS has shifted data management and evidence-based decision-making power to the community. Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) are able to collect point of care data through tablets and transmit the data in real-time to the central server, where actionable data is timely collated, analysed and through an integrated feedback loop, actionable data is timely pushed back to communities to guide evidence-based decision making. Currently, PCZ is reaching over 100,000 vulnerable children, adolescents, and their caregivers in over 600 communities in Central, Muchinga, Northern, Southern, and Western Provinces of Zambia.

Leveraging the ECAP Model for Strengthened Community Health and Social Systems

PCZ utilizes the Empowered Children and Adolescents Program (ECAP) model that uses a community case management pathway to improve resilience and health outcomes among vulnerable children, adolescents and their caregivers are healthy and stable and they are resilient to threats of diseases, disasters, and poverty. The ECAP model is anchored in the belief that while there are vulnerable children, adolescents, and their caregivers living with HIV—diagnosed and undiagnosed—who need to be linked to treatment and care—there are also many vulnerable children, adolescents and caregivers who are at risk of contracting HIV, and they are living in environments that increase their vulnerability to HIV. Through this model, PCZ is networking the community health and social workforce, partnering with Government, the private sector, and other key stakeholders to unleash the potential of communities and families to build a unified, comprehensive, and sustainable service delivery network.
