Director Matakala is a Lecturer of Law and a Researcher at the University of Zambia. She holds, amongst others, a Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria, as well as a PhD in Human Rights and Law Reform from King’s College, University of Cambridge. Her passion and knowledge of human rights has seen her take up several consultancies with various entities locally and internationally, such as the United Nations, the Office of the Public Protector of Zambia, the Ministry of Justice, Zambia, GIZ, the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the Centre of Human Rights in Pretoria, the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, National Assembly of Zambia, the Institute for Research and Development on Inclusion and Society, United Kingdom, and many others. She currently also sits on the Board of Little Sun Zambia Limited, a social business providing solar energy and technology services to households, small businesses, smallholder farmers, and communities in Zambia.
