Community-Led Monitoring and Routine Immunization Community Systems Strengthening through Strategic Partnership with CHAZ:

With support from Zambia’s largest non-government health provider, CHAZ, PCZ is receiving strategic funding from the Global Fund and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and is leveraging its community health systems strengthening model to integrate community systems strengthening for Community-led monitoring (CLM) for malaria and routine childhood immunizations, including Human papilloma virus (HPV) and COVID-19 vaccinations. As part of CLM for malaria, PCZ is mobilizing and strengthening the capacity of communities and malaria services users in 10 districts in Muchinga and Northern Provinces to collect actionable evidence to guide the delivery of quality malaria services and help to improve programs and policies. As part of the Gavi-supported immunization program, PCZ is supporting the improvement of coverage and equity for immunization in Mumbwa and Shibuyunji districts in Central Province.

Integrated Disease Surveillance for Priority Notifiable Diseases

Integrated Disease Surveillance for Priority Notifiable Diseases

In Northern and Muchinga Provinces, PCZ is strengthening community health systems through targeted Community-Based Volunteer (CBVs) training in disease surveillance and pandemic preparedness. Since the initiation of the program in 2024, PCZ has trained 64 CBVs and 17 Environmental Health Technologists (EHTs) with 20 primary health care facilities reporting through the trained CBVs and EHTs. PCZ has strengthened the capacity of the CBVs and EHTs in Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) and Event-Based Surveillance (EBS). PCZ has deployed national standardized reporting tools to the CBVs and EHTs. The joint training between CBVs and EHTs has fostered teamwork and reinforced shared accountability in surveillance efforts.
