At Project Concern Zambia (PCZ), we cannot let this special day, World AIDS Day, pass by without joining the rest of the world in observing it : Because we are committed to the global goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030!
“Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!” is this year’s theme. We stand firm by this theme because every day, the communities we serve are working hard to remove the inequalities that may hinder Zambia to end AIDS by 2030.
We are focusing our resources on sub populations that are vulnerable and most at risk such as vulnerable children and adolescents and young girls. We are working to find them where they are and address all the inequalities that preclude them from accessing HIV prevention, treatment, and care services.
We are using a person-and family centered approach to take health care services to the homes of 7,356 Children/Adolescents Living with HIV and we are leaving no stone unturned to keep them virally suppressed! We are taking care of 2,956 infants who were exposed to HIV at birth or through breastfeeding and we are following them at community level until they are deemed HIV free! Our community testers, certified by the Ministry of Health, reached 5,042 vulnerable adolescents with HIV testing services this year and 20 new cases were identified and immediately linked to treatment!
