Project Concern Zambia (PCZ) has integrated into the Empowered Children and Adolescent Program II (ECAP II) case management program, Community Based Surveillance (CBS) for early detection and reporting of Polio, Malaria, TB, Malnutrition and other diseases of public health concern. In the wake of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, ECAP II in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) conducted CBS trainings for 159 Community Case Workers in Kabwe, Kapiri, Mkushi and Serenje Districts. Although Zambia has not recorded any Ebola cases, the presence of the disease in a neighboring country remains a regional public health threat. After the training, the Community Case Workers will be able to identify cases and events of public health importance in the communities where they live and to report suspected cases, conditions or events to the nearest local health facilities. The ECAP II program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy Zambia. We continue to thank our donors and the American People for their generosity.
