A Proud Milestone for Project Concern Zambia in Healthcare

As Project Concern Zambia, this marks one of our proudest moments since we were registered seven years ago as a local independent organization. This innovative funding partnership between Bayer, the Ministry of Health and PCZ has espoused our values of public-private partnership as a pathway to self-reliance.

Our full gratitude goes to Bayer and the German people for giving PCZ, MOH, the Munga community members, including the Munzele family, an opportunity for us to come up with a proof of concept for this innovative business model. The proof of concept has been validated today.

In a true PPP model, PCZ has leveraged resources from First National Bank (FNB), Abbott, and Sonergy Diagnostics that will enable us to stock the health facility with start-up health facility and laboratory equipment and supplies, such as delivery beds; examination couch; staff and patient chairs and tables; test kits for malaria, HIV, cholera, and tuberculosis (TB); oxygen concentrator, pulse oximeter, weighing scales, specimen containers, and much more.

We will leverage our community and primary health care programs in Central Province that are supported by the United States Department of State through the U.S. Embassy in Zambia, and the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to support community and primary health care systems strengthening with integrated public and private sector engagement strategies, that will ensure that the Caleb Esnart Munzele Health Facility operates sustainably to maintain high-quality and uninterrupted care for over 10,000 community members in Munga Ward, including Bayer employees at Itaba Plant and their dependents.

Again, we give gratitude to our donors, Bayer, for this corporate social responsibility support, the Government, through the Ministry of Health, and the Central Province and Kabwe District Health Offices, for supporting this innovative investment and giving us the space to support national goals for universal health coverage.

And to the Munzele family, we thank you immensely for your selfless contribution of the land that has made all this possible.
